We already showed you what we did with our client’s living room. Now we’re excited to show you how we transformed the dining room and entryway! And for those that have been asking about the story behind the name for this project, yes, there was a very large coyote that would come down from the hills onto my client’s property, that would show up just about every time we were onsite and just stare at us through the window - he became sort of the project mascot!

Anyway, when our client brought us this project, the first thing he asked for was a functional dining room that would allow him to host dinners with family and friends. When we walked into the existing space for the first time it was pretty much empty, with the exception of a very large marble console, several tan leather chairs, and an old wrought iron chandelier and mirror. The walls were painted a dark olive green color that really made the space feel drab and dreary, and there wasn’t even a table in the room, so we basically began with a clean slate.

We obviously needed to brighten the space up so we added a fresh coat of white paint, and to make it feel warm and inviting we started with this great modern farmhouse dining table that has this amazing texture and feel to the wood, with a really cool black metal inset detail on the ends of the table. We added a linear light fixture with this great weathered wood/bronze finish which tied in nicely with the table. To soften the room up a bit, we installed a pair of grey curtains over a beautiful brushed brass rod with knurled finials, that created the perfect tie-in with the knurled brass cabinet pulls we installed in the living room. We also laid down this gorgeous distressed patterned rug with greys, creams, and gold. For seating we went with a pair of elegantly quilted upholstery end chairs, with antique brass bases, providing a sophisticated contrast to the more relaxed, casual elements in the room. To keep within the client’s budget, a set of four modern leather side chairs were re-purposed, which brought in yet another layer of texture. We also re-purposed the large marble console, and added a large brass frame mirror, a pair of brass-finished table lamps, and this great boho, textured black & white striped bench underneath, along with some amazing accessories to complete the styling. To finish the room off we hung an over-sized piece of artwork with beautiful grey and gold tones to compliment the neutral color palette. The dining room is now highly functional, with a cohesive look and updated feel that is both light and bright, as well as casually sophisticated. We see many great dinner parties here in our client’s future!!

For our client’s entryway, we again added a fresh coat of white paint to replace the dark beige wall color from before. To keep within the client’s budget, we used his existing metal console table and added some great textured ceramics, glass beads which are always a favorite of ours, as well as some fresh greenery to greet you as you walk through the front door. A brushed silver framed round mirror was added to help bring in additional light to the space, and provide that last minute check before walking out the door. The console was finished off with a pair of woven seagrass baskets below, which really add a layer of warmth and texture, along with the jute runner with blue striped detailing that provides a subtle tie-in with the blue built-ins in the living room. We think this space says welcome home!!
